ABOUT US

She didn’t see leaders who looked like her—so she became one

Her Rising Initiative is a 501c3 nonprofit seeking to close the opportunity gap for girls and help girls rise into positions of leadership. The organization harnesses the power of event programming, global chapters, and curriculum to enact change.

Cherie started Her Rising at 16 years old after getting fed up with the lack of women, especially women that looked like her in board rooms, tv screens, and government.

So she set out to change that. Starting first with Girls Who Lead conferences in Evanston, Illinois. Working with Evanston Community Foundation, she was able to host her first ever conference. Open to middle school girls all over the state of Illinois. Girls chose from workshops in STEM, Business, Arts, and more. Cherie curated sessions on confidence and self worth, everything she wanted to see when she was younger.

Her Rising has grown with Cherie, now a third year student at Corell– the organization is now spreading all over the world, adapting to the evergrowing issues her generation faces.

Her Rising Initiative is for girls, and by girls. With a team consisting of college students and recent graduates.

WHAT WE STAND FOR

Powered by purpose. Driven by impact.

Everything we do at Her Rising is rooted in one goal: making leadership accessible to every girl, everywhere. Our values guide every program, every event, and every chapter we launch—from the first conference in Illinois to our growing global network.
Access to opportunity

We close the gap by bringing leadership tools to girls who’ve been left out.

Community-led change

Our chapters are built by girls, for girls—in their schools and on their terms.

Voice and visibility

We help girls raise their voices in spaces where they’ve been silenced for too long.

Real-world action

From classrooms to Congress, our programs turn confidence into impact.
